The 13th annual Pricing Conference will be co-hosted by the marketing department and Earl V. Snyder Innovation Management Center of the Whitman School of Management on Aug. 18-20. The conference offers a forum for academic researchers, as well as practitioners, to share ideas and explore issues related to pricing, price promotion and a diverse set of hot topics in pricing research.
More than 60 prominent academic scholars and practitioners from across the world will attend, with participants representing the United States, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey and Spain, among others. Participants will present papers on pricing from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives to ignite discussions on the topic. The agenda also includes a keynote presentation by Walter Baker, a pricing expert and partner at McKinsey & Co., who will take a practitioner’s perspective on pricing decisions.
“Whitman’s marketing faculty is globally recognized for their cutting-edge research on pricing, and it is only fitting that we are hosting this important event,” says conference coordinator Tridib Mazumdar, the Howard R. Gendal Professor of Marketing and associate dean for faculty development and research at Whitman. “Pricing is a critical marketing decision that requires consideration of not only economic factors, but also consumers’ psychological reactions to prices and how prices are framed. More recently, introductions of a variety of innovative pricing approaches in the online space have added a layer of complexity and excitement to this area of inquiry.”
