The IVMF’s Gary Shaheen, director of employment policy, and Mirza Tihic, director of program support services, together with Barbara Murray of the International Labor Organization, recently conducted a webinar on employment and entrepreneurship for people with disabilities. Shaheen and Tihic presented on inclusive entrepreneurship for people with disabilities and entrepreneurship initiatives sponsored by the IVMF, including the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities, Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship and other programs.
The webinar was held by the Global Applied Disability Research and Information Network (GLADNET) and hosted by the Cornell University Employment and Disability Institute. GLADNET brings together research centers, universities, enterprises, government departments, trade unions and organizations of and for persons with disabilities to advance competitive employment and training opportunities for persons with disabilities. Its objective is to promote disability policy and program reform with emphasis on integrated training and employment options achieved through collaborative applied research projects, and by the global exchange of information via the Internet.
