August 4, 9:30 A.M., EST | Media Availability with Featured Participant Representatives: 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

WHAT:NCServes Metrolina

The Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University (IVMF), Charlotte Bridge Home, Walmart, and Charlotte-area health and human service providers such as Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont and Mecklenburg County Veterans Services Division will celebrate a year’s worth of performance in the community’s NCServes – Metrolina collective impact initiative. Over the past year, the NCServes – Metrolina network has grown to over 47 vetted public and nonprofit providers with 148 practitioners that have connected 1,224 veterans, service members, and military families to 2,841 types of comprehensive services such as employment and healthcare. NCServes – Metrolina is the first of four interconnected networks across the North Carolina that enable service members, veterans, and their families to digitally access a comprehensive array of services, resources, and care through online self-referral, by phone, or in person with participating providers.

WHO:

The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Secretary, Major General Cornell Wilson (USMC, Ret.); The Leon Levine Foundation Senior Program Officer, Arrington Mixon; Walmart Foundation Senior Manager, Kathy Cox; IVMF Managing Director, Colonel James McDonough (USA, Ret.); and Charlotte Bridge Home Executive Director, Blake Bourne will address executive leaders from public, private, and nonprofit organizations serving North Carolina’s transitioning service members, veterans, and military families to commemorate NCServes’ local impact in Charlotte and across the State.

Featured Participants:

  • Charlotte Bridge Home: Serves as NCServes – Metrolina’s backbone organization that receives and coordinates referrals to providers and practitioners
  • Syracuse University, Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF): Through its AmericaServes initiative, the IVMF introduced the strategy and resources to empower North Carolina to improve service delivery for its veterans, service members, and military families
  • Accenture: Supports the growth of NCServes as part of its U.S. Corporate Citizenship Skills to Succeed initiative
  • Foundation for the Carolinas: Has served as a catalyst to help launch NCServes – Metrolina and supports collective impact efforts that promote healthy futures for local veterans, service members, and military families
  • Leon Levine Foundation: Provided a grant to launch NC Serves – Metrolina. The project is aligned with the Foundation’s mission of helping individuals and families attain self-sufficiency, and provides a much needed framework for provider collaboration and comprehensive outcome measurement when serving veterans and military families
  • North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NCDMVA): As part of a public private partnership, NCDMVA partners regionally with NCServes to ease and streamline the access to services an individual veteran and family members need
  • Walmart Foundation: The Walmart Foundation works to seed and support innovative public-private partnership models, like AmericaServes in North Carolina, that collaborate in new and better ways to serve our nation’s veterans
