Program Manager | O2O

Adam (A.J.) James Florkowski

Florkowski is responsible for the management, coordination, and administration of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families’ (IVMF’s) Onward to Opportunity (O2O), formerly known as the Veteran Career Transition Program (VCTP).

Prior to joining the O2O team, AJ was responsible for the management, coordination, and administration of the IVMF’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) and the EBV-Families national programs. A U.S. Army veteran, AJ served as an engineer officer for over 11 years on active duty before transitioning to the U.S. Army Reserves in 2010 where he continues to serve with the 3-309th CS/CSS Battalion, a Syracuse-based U.S. Army Reserve unit. During his time on active duty, AJ held positions ranging from platoon leader to division executive officer while also gaining experience as a doctrine writer and deputy area engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. CONUS assignment locations include Fort Polk, LA; Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Fort Hamilton, NY; & Fort Drum, NY. OCONUS assignment locations include Korea and Germany as well as a 15-month deployment to Iraq in 2006-2007 while in command of an engineer bridging company.

Upon transitioning from the Active Duty in 2010, AJ worked as a Project Manager for G.A. Braun, an industrial laundry equipment manufacturer headquartered in Syracuse, NY. Founded in 1946 and using it’s ISO:9001 certification as a foundation, Braun is a leader in the industrial laundry equipment market. In the capacity of a Project Manager at Braun, Florkowski was charged with a multitude of tasks surrounding sales support, new equipment installation, equipment commissioning, and in some cases aftermarket support. He oversaw the development and execution of complex project management schedules, budgets, and reporting mechanisms in support of nearly 100 projects over his 4-years with the company. Ultimately, AJ gained invaluable experience from working alongside numerous small business owners and independent operators – both on the client and contractor sides – while developing and implementing industrial laundry solutions with Braun.

Florkowski holds a bachelor’s degree in geopolitics with a minor in systems engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master’s degree in geology from the University of Missouri at Rolla.
