Communications Manager

Austin Philleo joined the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families in May 2022 as the communications manager. In his role, he helps plan and execute communications/content strategy for the Institute for Veterans and Military Families & Office of Veteran and Military Affairs. He collaborates with the communications team, managers, and leadership to effectively attract and retain prominent external stakeholders including JP Morgan Chase and Schultz Family Foundation. In addition, he analyzes and measures tactical metrics against marketing objectives to provide or present reports and insight to university leadership, including the Board of Trustees.

Before joining IVMF, Austin worked for Mower, as a Senior Account Executive, PR/PA. He counseled clients on strategic communications planning, crisis communications, and policy matters. His experience encompassed policy, government relations, and project development for both the nonprofit and for-profits. Before joining Mower, he served as a government relations expert for federal, state, and local candidates.

Austin graduated from Le Moyne College with a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in communications. As an active Syracuse community member, Austin currently serves as a board member of the Erie Canal Museum and Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
