Christine T. Tarnowski

Tarnowski is the Senior Director of Operations for the IVMF. Before joining the IVMF, she served as Chief Operating and Financial Officer for Veterans Outreach Center, Inc., located in Rochester, NY. The center is the nation’s oldest community-based non-profit for veterans and military families. Tarnowski is also a former Deputy Director of the New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs.

Tarnowski enlisted into the Army in 1987 and served in logistics at Fort Benning, GA. Upon completion of her tour she continued her service in the Army National Guard and upon graduation from Officer Candidate School in 1991, was commissioned as a Quartermaster Officer. She served as a platoon leader, executive officer, company commander, staff intelligence officer, operations officer and graduated with distinction from the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Officer Advanced Course and Combined Arms & Services Staff School.

Tarnowski came back on active duty in 2000 when she was hand selected by the Deputy General to join the NYS Division of Military and Naval Affairs Initiatives Group where she worked as a special project officer addressing challenges faced by military members. During 9/11, she served as the logistics officer in charge of the Division’s Emergency Operation Center.

In 2003, Tarnowski completed the Army National Guard Recruiting & Retention Managers Course and became the Operations & Training Officer in Recruiting & Retention Command for Eastern New York State. From there she went on to serve as the State Training & Budget Officer in the Division’s Training & Readiness Directorate, responsible for all phases of planning, coordinating and resourcing training needs for the Army National Guard forces in NYS.

Upon retirement in 2008, following 21 years of service, Tarnowski became the Deputy Director of Operations & Training for the New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs. In that role, she was responsible for the training and professional development of a state wide network of accredited Veteran Benefit Counselors addressing the needs of nearly one million veterans and their families across the state of New York.

Tarnowski holds a masters degree in business management and is a certified Senior Human Resource Professional. She is a member of the American Legion Post 832, Cape Vincent, NY.
