Sly began serving the IVMF’s Veterans Career Transition Program (VCTP) in 2015. Sly is responsible for maintaining open lines of communication with VCTP students as well as handling questions and concerns regarding certificate coursework required, program offerings, and guidance on future career choices. Sly works to process VCTP student registrations, maintain student records to monitor progress throughout the program, and provide career services support for transitioning veterans.
Sly is originally from Rutland, VT and graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. After graduating, Sly served in the 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY, and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Southern Baghdad, Iraq and Operation Enduring Freedom in Khost Province, Afghanistan. After separating from Active service, Sly entered the Vermont Army National Guard, where he commanded a mounted reconnaissance troop and was selected to receive the Army’s General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award. Sly continues to serve in the 86th Infantry Brigade of the Vermont Army National Guard.
Before beginning as an advisor, Sly spent 5 years working in alternative education, which included leading an employment skills program and an outdoor adventure therapy program for at-risk youth.
