As the manager for advising services at the Institute for Veterans and Military Affairs, Jarod Perkioniemi is responsible for managing the advising services function for IVMF. In this role, he develops and supports a team of advisors who support students enrolled in the Onward to Opportunity (O2O) program. He achieves this through professional development sessions, one-on-one counseling, and utilizing the strengths of each advisor to enhance the entire team. He also reviews student cases, reports student data, and facilitates the payment of industry certification exam fees for O2O students.
Jarod is a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Army before leaving the military as a Sergeant. Jarod served as a recruiter, training development manager, and completed deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. For his service, he was recognized with the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
Jarod holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Thomas Edison State University, and a master’s degree in management from St. John Fisher College.
