Research & Analytics Fellow

Joe Gorsuch was born and raised in the suburbs of Rochester, NY. He graduated from Newark Senior High School (Newark, NY) in 2013 with an Advanced Regents Diploma with honors. In May of 2016, Joe graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Oswego with a BA in Political Science and a BA in Global & International Studies with a focus in Sustainability. He was also a distinct member of the Oswego State Wrestling Team and served as a representative on the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Shortly after completing an internship at U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s Syracuse Office during the spring of 2016, Joe served under Mayor of Syracuse, Stephanie Miner’s Administration as both an Administrative Assistant and Director of Constituent Services. During this time, Joe made the commute to Palmyra, New York on weekends to work at VFW Post 6778. At the end of Mayor Miner’s tenure, Joe was given the opportunity to take a position in the Department of Personnel & Labor Relations serving as the City’s liaison for employee relations and union contract negotiations. Before heading back to school to pursue a graduate degree, Joe served as Campaign Manager to Syracuse, NY City Court Judge Candidate, Shadia Tadros. In June 2019, Joe successfully completed a graduate assistantship at Syracuse University’s Campbell Institute for Public Affairs, and was awarded a graduate certificate in Environmental Leadership from SUNY-ESF and Master of Public Administration degree from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School.

Joe most recently served as Campaign Manager to Syracuse, NY City Council Candidate Jay Subedi during the 2019 General Election. He is currently employed at the Syracuse University, Institute for Veterans and Military Families as a Research and Analytics Fellow. In his spare time, Joe is an active Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor for SAS Team Syracuse.
