Laura Butler grew up in Southern California, but has made the El Paso area her home as a military spouse and local military community advocate. Over the course of her career, she has accrued over a decade of teaching, facilitating, and training experience, over eight years’ experience in project management, and seven years working within the military community.
Laura began her career as a public high school teacher, and has worked across retail, financial, and non-profit institutions in leadership positions. She served as the United States Program Director for World Cosplay Summit, during which time she worked extensively with international broadcasters, government officials, and event organizers from over 30 countries. Just prior to taking on the role of Onward to Opportunity Program Manager for the El Paso Area, she spent over five years conducting comprehensive career transition workshops for service members and their families. This work was done with GBX Consultants, Inc., and The AFX Group, LLC, giving her rich experience working within the military/contractor ecosystem.
Laura earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Chapman University, her California Teaching Credential to teach Secondary School, and is pursuing continued education towards a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She lives in El Paso, TX with her husband, son, cats, and a Guinea pig.
