Paulina Thompson is the Program Coordinator in Hampton Roads for the Onward to Opportunity program (O2O), formerly known as the Veteran Career Transition Program (VCTP). Prior to working for the IVMF, she was a Department of Labor Employment Workshop facilitator with Inverness Technologies and an Employment Specialist with Corporate America Supports You (CASY) and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN). Paulina also spent over 10 years as a Transition/Employment Educator with Fleet & Family Support Centers-Hampton Roads assisting transitioning service members, retirees, reservists and their families. In that capacity, she conducted training events on a variety of employment-related topics including career planning, job searching, writing a well-crafted resume and cover letter, how to navigate the federal employment system and how to successfully nail the interview – including negotiating better compensation packages. Paulina also conducted one-on-one employment and job search counseling sessions for thousands of military personnel and their families. Her previous career in human resources in the telecommunications, media publishing and defense contracting industries brings the real-world experience that ensured her clients were successful in the next chapter of their employment journey.
Paulina has a master’s degree in business administration, a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics and is a certified job and career transition coach. She has also been a Navy spouse for over 20 years.
Paulina is also very active with animals. She and her husband have raised multiple service dogs and have fostered over 50 golden retrievers and Labrador retrievers for various rescues. They are the proud parents of 2 rescued black labs, Raven and Roxy.
