National Capital Region Program Manager | O2O

Sandra Smith is the Installation Manager for the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) Onward to Opportunity-VCTP program within the National Capital Region.  She is an experienced Career Coach, Project Manager, Trainer and Workforce Development Policy Expert.  She was previously the Transition Services Manager for the Arlington (VA) Employment Center where she developed, managed and delivered job search workshops as well as provided career coaching and counseling for mid- and senior-career level individuals seeking federal and other types of employment.

She also developed and managed the BRAC Transition Center for Arlington County successfully serving the career transition needs of thousands of Department of Defense employees at risk of layoff due to a realignment of positions to other locations. Prior to this, she provided executive leadership for two national contracted employability research and demonstration projects in the Ticket to Work program for the Social Security Administration.  She also managed the National Skill Standards Evaluation projects for the US Department of Labor and the Department of Education.  Ms. Smith was featured on the NBC Today Show and in other national media for her career coaching and assistance for Veterans and their families.
