Director of Development

Sarah Russell serves as Director of Development for the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) and the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs (OVMA) at Syracuse University. In this role, she is part of the fundraising team responsible for advancing Syracuse University’s historic commitment to serving veterans and military families by cultivating and managing relationships and raising funds from corporate, foundation and individual donors to both the IVMF and OVMA.

Russell joined the IVMF as Assistant Director of Development in 2019, where she was responsible for leading and managing the IVMF’s direct response marketing plan and supporting the development team in its fundraising efforts.

Russell brings nearly 10 years of fundraising experience to the IVMF team. Prior to joining the IVMF, Russell worked across the country, and most recently in Washington, DC, raising millions of dollars for large and small organizations alike.

Russell is an Indiana native. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
