Melissa Reider is Director of Development for Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families and the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs. She facilitates giving from individual, corporate, and foundation donors to support the University’s commitment the military and veteran community and to advance Chancellor Syverud’s vision to make Syracuse University “the best place for veterans and their families.”
Reider has significant fundraising experience in the higher education sector, and has held director level positions at Onondaga Community College, Upstate Medical University, Le Moyne College, and Morrisville State College. Her responsibilities have included establishing and implementing comprehensive development programs, including capital campaigns, annual giving and major gifts programs, and corporate and foundation relations programs. She was awarded the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Professional Service for her campaign work at Onondaga Community College.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Le Moyne College.
Reider lives in Syracuse with her two children. She is a softball skills coach for Special Olympics New York, and volunteers for a number of special needs-focused organizations in the community.
