Priyantha Fernando joined the IVMF’s Enrollment Services Team as an enrollment coordinator in September 2017. In this role, he works closely with active duty and transitioning service members, veterans, and their spouses. His responsibilities include addressing their inquiries, and providing guidance and support relating to the program offerings and placement at IVMF. He is passionate about helping veterans, service members and their spouses reach their occupational goals and aspirations.
Prior to joining the IVMF, Fernando worked in the Syracuse University Bookstore’s textbook department where he developed excellent customer service skills. During his tenure there, he was the bookstore liaison for the Whitman School of Management’s Defense Comptroller Program (DCP) & LOGTECH DoD, MBA@Syracuse distance learning program, the Newhouse School’s Military Photo Journalism/Military Motion Media (MPJ/MMM) program, College of Law, Mathematics, and English Language Institute—assisting these programs/departments in the acquisition and sale of required textbooks.
Originally from Glen Burnie, Maryland, Fernando received his Bachelor’s in Music Industry from Syracuse University, and currently teaches piano at the Fayetteville YMCA as well as privately. In his free time, he enjoys doing yoga & pilates and spending quality time with his wife, Deborah, and their two young daughters.
