BOSTON, November 9, 2017 – Skillsoft, the global leader in corporate learning, today announced The Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University is using Skillsoft’s content to advance the lives of U.S. military veterans, transitioning service members and their families. The IT Skills & Certification and Business Skills & Leadership Training content equip service members, veterans and their families with the skills they need to be successful in business ownership, their careers and life.
The IVMF is committed to advancing the post-service lives of veterans, active-duty service members and military spouses. Utilizing Skillsoft’s content and platform, their professional staff delivers unique and innovative programs in career and employment education and training to post-9/11 veterans and active duty military spouses, as well as tailored programs for veterans of all generations.
IVMF offers Skillsoft content to participants so they can obtain the knowledge and skills essential to their post-military career growth. Since the program’s inception in 2011, it has grown from serving 119 veterans and spouses per year to now nearly 5,000 veterans and spouses per year. Delivered online and on 12 installations around the country through Skillsoft, participants can explore more than 20 predefined learning pathways, including project management, human resources, Six Sigma as well as various information technology and customer service leadership fields. Over half of all IVMF students completed at least one Skillsoft learning program.
“Skillsoft is proud to support IVMF’s goal to deliver world-class-leading programs in career, vocational education and training service members, veterans and their families,” said Bill Donoghue, chairman and CEO of the Skillsoft Group. “It’s important to support veterans as they re-enter the workforce and gain the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful. Our content library provides the essential curated corporate training assets to gain key certifications to aid in a swift, successful transition into civilian life.”
IVMF also partners with Skillsoft to prepare students for professional certification exams. Skillsoft’s extensive content library includes comprehensive online courses, practice tests and expert mentorship for students preparing for business and IT certifications. To date, program graduates have achieved over 800 industry certifications. The IVMF covers certain certification exam fees, making it a magnet for students preparing for certifications.
“The success of veterans, active-duty service members and their families stands at the forefront of the IVMF’s mission-driven work. We’re proud to provide Skillsoft’s content to empower veterans and their families,” said Laura Cooper, Director of Advising & Enrollment Services for the IVMF. “Together with Skillsoft, the IVMF programs have grown and continuously evolve to meet the needs of the military community, as well as the industry demands of the corporate workforce.
