Veterans Program for Politics and Civic Engagement

  • VPPCE is tailored to meet the specific needs of veterans and military-connected individuals who have an interest in pursuing careers in politics. Instructors will include esteemed faculty from the Maxwell School — the nation’s #1-ranked graduate school in public affairs, veterans with first-hand experience running for office, and experts in the field.
  • The program is delivered in the Fall in a hybrid format of online and in-person at Syracuse University.

    • Introduction to Entrepreneurship Two-Day Course
    • A two-day course offered as a TAP training track for those interested in learning more about the opportunities and challenges of business ownership. Subject matter experts and practitioners from SBA and its network of partners teach the course at over 180 military installations worldwide. Participants learn business fundamentals and techniques for evaluating the feasibility of their business concepts.

    • IGNITE is a one-day entrepreneurship training event offered in cities across the United States. This program is the perfect option for veterans, active duty, and military spouses/life-partners who are just beginning to explore the opportunity of small business ownership as a post-service career path.

    • The purpose EBV-Spark is to help participants begin the process of developing a basic set of skills and competencies focused on entrepreneurial opportunity recognition, innovation, and small business management. Through this 100% virtual program participants will test the feasibility of their early business idea and develop a foundation of skills and abilities in the areas of value creation, marketing, sales, personal branding, value delivery, and finance.

    • STRIVE leverages networks and education resources in local communities to support and advance veteran owned businesses.
    • STRIVE is a local three-phase program for veterans with a budding business. The program helps to identify, overcome and mitigate challenges for the new venture to pave the way for veteran business ownership success.

    • V-WISE helps women veterans and female military spouses/partners find their passion and learn the business savvy skills necessary to turn an idea or start-up into a growing venture.

  • EBV-F – https://ivmf.syracuse.edu/programs/entrepreneurship/start-up/ebvf/
    • The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans’ Families (EBV-F) program offers small business training and a vocational, economic path forward for military spouses and family members, or a surviving spouse of a military member who gave his or her life in service to our country. EBV-F offers training tailored to military family members with caregiving responsibilities to launch and grow small businesses from home.

    • This unique event is dedicated solely to veteran and military spouse business owners and the ecosystem that supports them. Over the course of four days, stakeholders, IVMF program graduates, and veteran and military spouse business owners from around the country gather to network, and learn about the latest opportunities, best practices, and resources available to their growing companies.

    • Hosted by the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, part of Florida State University’s College of Business, R.I.S.E. is a virtual, bootcamp-style program focused on sustainability and tackles head-on topics such as the financial, operational, strategic planning, and communication challenges small businesses are currently facing.
