Zachary Bridgewater is a Research Associate at the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). His work supports the AmericaServes program and the development of a new data commons to facilitate awareness and understanding of veteran issues in communities across the U.S.

Dr. Bridgewater joined the IVMF after his dissertation research identified coordination challenges present in one AmericaServes network and evaluated the effect of network structure on several networks’ performance. More broadly, his research explores how coordination and governance decisions influence networks’ ability to achieve social impact, the interplay between conflict and collaboration in organizational settings, and the design and use of referral technologies. As the spouse of a veteran, he views research as a vehicle to give voice to veteran needs and to identify strategies to address those needs.

Zachary earned bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Computer Science from Georgia Tech (’15), and his master’s and Ph.D. in Technology & Social Behavior from Northwestern University (’21).
