Onward to Opportunity (O2O) is a free career training program that provides professional certification and employee support services to transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses. O2O combines industry-validated curricula, strong partnerships with leading veteran service organizations and private sector companies, and comprehensive career coaching services to prepare and match you with your next career.

Thanks to the support of our national partners, this month we celebrate 5 years of our Onward to Opportunity program! Five years ensuring our veterans, service members, and military spouses have a successful career post-military service. We invite you to experience the O2O story and accomplishments below.

Overview

Assessment

Applicants are guided through the intake process by our Enrollment Services team and given advice on the best-fit learning pathway for their career goals.

Onward to your Career

The first phase of the program is OTYC, custom curriculum that prepares participants for lifelong learning and career advancement.

Online Learning Pathway

Participants receive no-cost access to industry-validated online coursework, certification exam prep materials, and exam fee funding once coursework is complete.

Employment Services

While working on their coursework, job-seeking participants are matched with HHUSA specialists who assist with employer matching, resume writing, and more.

Alumni Support

All O2O alumni are supported by a robust peer network, regular informational webinars & resources, and invitations to local events.

October 2015

O2O Launches first cohorts at Joint-Base Lewis McCord (WA) and Camp Pendleton (CA)

January 2017

O2O and IVMF’s Veterans Career Transition Program (VCTP) align as one program, delivering in-person and online cohorts

January 2018

Centralized advising model launched merging online and in-person advising services

August 2018

IVMF launches its participant resource portal, the Community for Online Resources and Engagement (CORE)

2019

The program broadens its IT offerings via key partnerships with Cisco, Google, Dell Boomi, and Amazon Web Services. Virtual OTYC are now offered to distance learners for a homogenous program experience

January 2020

O2O deploys Percipio, Skillsoft’s newest learning platform, as its primary learning management system.

March 2020

O2O goes entirely virtual to accommodate the ongoing demand for career training during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

November 2020

50,000th O2O participant begins their cohort & journey toward increased employability
